DIRECT ACCESS COLONOSCOPY/UPPER ENDOSCOPY
 

Albany Gastroenterology Consultants provides the convenience of direct access endoscopy (colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy-EGD) at St. Peter's Surgery and Endoscopy Center as a service for patients who are medically stable and do not need prior office consultation. Standard endoscopic procedures will be scheduled quickly and efficiently for stable adult patients WITHOUT insulin dependent diabetes, unstable cardiac, pulmonary or kidney disease, patients without the need for intravenous antibiotics prior to a procedure and the need for anticoagulation therapy such as Lovenox, Plavix or Coumadin.

Primary Care Providers can refer stable adult patients for standard diagnostic procedures by calling our Direct Access Nurse/Coordinators, Suzanne directly at 518-533-1243 and 518-533-1286 or Colleen at 518-533-1294. Our nurse will call patients to obtain demographic and insurance information. She will also obtain an extensive health history, explain the procedure in detail and review the appropriate preparation for the required procedure. An informational pamphlet along with the preparation instructions will be sent to all patients.

Please be advised that there are some insurance plans that do not allow benefits for screening colonoscopy. We will work with each insurance plan and each patient to ensure a favorable outcome. If your insurance requires a referral, you can fax it to 518-482-4201. If your insurance does not cover a screening colonoscopy we will contact you.

We will make every attempt to schedule your procedure on a day and date that is convenient for you and your family.
